Bobby Dean Reeves passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, in Deer Park, TX, at the age of 78.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 25,2025 at Deer Park First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Tucker officiating. Born on August 25, 1946, in Galveston, TX, Bobby grew up to be a loving and thoughtful man, cherished by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
After graduating from Hitchcock High School in 1964, Bobby proudly served his country by enlisting in the Air Force in September of the same year. He completed his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and his exceptional language skills led him to the Air Force Security School at Syracuse University, where he spent a year mastering the Russian language. His dedication and service continued as he was stationed at Wakkanai Air Force Base in Japan, contributing to the nation's security during the Vietnam War.
Upon completing his military service, Bobby embarked on a fulfilling career with Houston Lighting & Power in 1969, beginning as a lineman. His hard work and dedication saw him excel in many roles and locations until his retirement after 40 years of service in 2009. Bobby's professional life was marked by the same integrity and commitment that he applied to all his endeavors.
He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures—coaching youth baseball and softball in his younger years, umpiring for the Deer Park Boys Little League, enjoying a round of golf with friends on Saturdays, and cheering on his beloved Houston Astros.
Bobby was a devoted family man. As he got older, he spent much of his time attending his daughters’ activities. Whether it was a dance recital, cheerleading, basketball game or softball tournament, Bobby had many “proud Dad” moments during his life.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Leslie Reeves, and four daughters, Carrie Crawford, Carla Reeves, Kimberly (Johnny) Phelps, and Kori Reeves. He was a doting granddad to Jordyn Crawford, Lane Crawford, Will Phelps, and Sawyer Phelps. His warmth and humor will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Joann Reeves and Laurie (Ronnie) Forks, brother-in-law, David Carter, and mother-in-law, Fern Hamilton. Bobby's legacy continues through his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and the countless beloved friends who became an extended family over the years.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Covy and Ernestine Reeves, and his brothers, Covy and Billy Reeves.
As we say goodbye to Bobby, we celebrate the life he led and are reminded that each day is a gift. His story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of those he loved and laughed with. Goodbyes are not forever, it simply means we’ll miss you until we meet again.
