Adored by many and a stranger to none who encountered her, Candace Andreno, age 57, passed away
suddenly on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Candace was born September 13, 1967 in Newark, New Jersey to Alexandra Sophia (Romero) and Jerry
Lee Nicks. She called many states home including New Jersey, California, Nevada, Washington, Florida,
before finally settling in Texas. An avid artist and devoted stay at home mother, she instilled a love of arts
and expression into her family, and was a nurturing caretaker to anyone who needed comfort.
She was fiercely devoted to her family, her faith, and carried her love for art and dance and her passion
for service into the lives of her children and beyond. A former competitive dancer herself, she took pride
in her Greek heritage and taught Greek dance to the youth for many years.
There was a warmth that radiated from Candace that only a lucky number of us were able to experience.
To speak to her for any length of time was to feel known, understood and accepted. She had a playful
sense of humor, an attentive ear, and an open heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother Alexandra, father Jerry, grandmother Lillian, and younger brother
Paul.
She is survived by her beloved husband Steve Andreno, her two daughters Katherine Weimmer and her
husband Max, Elizabeth Andreno and her husband William Bryce Ortiz, and granddaughter Gwenivere
Drew Ortiz.
Candace’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The visitation and funeral service will take
place at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the visitation beginning at 9:00am and the funeral
at 10:00am. Candace will be buried at St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Monastery at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Monastery.
