Our beloved son, David Scott Griffis, unexpectedly passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 20. He is survived by those who loved him most including his mother: Jeanette Marie Haines of Deer Park, Texas, father: Larry Dwain Griffis of Douglas, Georgia; stepmother: Marceleet Anne Griffis of Escondido, California; half-sibling’s include Michael Dwain Griffis of Douglas, Georgia, Andrew Kaleb Griffis of Douglas, Georgia, William Meaux of Deer Park, Texas, Elizabeth Marie Salazar of Beaufort, South Carolina and Caroline Marie Griffis of Brownsville, Tennessee. Uncle: Jameson Griffis of Douglas, Georgia. Grandparents: Brenda Newman of Deer Park, Texas and Larry and Patricia Griffis of Douglas, Georgia. He is predeceased by his grandfather: Rodney Newman of Channelview, Texas.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David, a cherished soul who left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He departed from this physical earth, but his spirit, warmth, and wisdom will forever reside in our hearts and memories.

David was more than just a presence; he was a gentle soul who radiated love and kindness to everyone he encountered. His infectious joy and unwavering positivity created a welcoming atmosphere that made him a joy to be around. His ability to connect with others on a profound level ensured that those who knew him not only admired but truly loved him.

A perpetual seeker of knowledge, David was like a sponge, always eager to absorb and share the wealth of information he accumulated. His passion for learning was not only inspiring but contagious, leaving an enduring impact on those who had the privilege of engaging in conversations with him.

Though David may no longer be with us in the physical sense, the love and memories he cultivated will remain eternally present. In our collective recollections, he lives on—his laughter echoing, his wisdom resonating, and his spirit continuing to touch our lives.

As we say our goodbyes to a beloved friend, family member, and confidant, let us hold onto the precious moments we shared with David. May his legacy serve as a reminder of the beauty found in a life well-lived and the profound impact one can have on the lives of others.

Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 26, 2024 in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, Texas 77536
