Donald Ray Wester, devoted son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 17, 2025 at the age of 75.
Born the eldest of five children, Donald learned early the value of family, hard work, and perseverance. After graduating from Pasadena High School in 1968, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. This was a choice that reflected his lifelong sense of duty and commitment. Donald worked several years for Central Freight Lines and over 25 years at Occidental Chemical before health issues forced him to retire.
Donald lived life with energy and enthusiasm. He had a sharp mind for poker, a steady hand on the golf course, a deep love for baseball and fishing and a long term passion for the Hometown Opry. He ran this production for over 25 years and booked local talents and musicians, eventually making it one of the best in the state. Music and the community brought him great joy.
He now joins his father, Edward (Buster) Wester; his brothers, Curtis and Robert; his sister, Geneva; and his son, Colby, in eternal rest.
Donald is survived by his loving mother, Margaret (Helen) Wester; his brother Ronald Wester; his son Justin Wester; his devoted companion Mickey Cline; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Donald’s life will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, his humor and warmth, and his gift for bringing people together — whether around a card table, on the fairway, with a fishing pole in his hand or in the stands at a ballgame. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast devotion to family and friends.
A service to honor Donald’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 26th at Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine in Deer Park, Tx. Visitation will be at 4 pm with a service to follow at 5 pm where loved ones will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey and the many lives he touched.
