Gary Renfrow Obituary

Gary Lee Renfrow, 38, of Kingwood, Texas, passed from this life and into the presence of Jesus in the early morning hours of Friday, October 27, 2023. Gary was born on December 28, 1984 and raised by his loving parents, Jim and Tammy Renfrow.

Throughout Gary’s childhood, he was active in a number of little league sports and clubs - Boy Scouts, Taekwondo, Baseball, Soccer, Football, and Basketball. Athleticism was a natural talent of Gary’s. Among his classmates at Greentree Elementary, Gary was known for being the fastest runner, the best at every sport during PE and recess, and a helpful and humorous friend. At Creekwood Middle school, Gary joined the athletic teams, playing football and basketball. It was also at Creekwood that Gary explored outside of sports, picking up the saxophone in band and playing leading roles in theater productions. For Gary’s tenth grade year, his family relocated to Porter, Texas and he joined New Caney High School where he quickly was noticed for his height and recruited to the basketball team. Gary was a starter on the varsity basketball team and participated in cross country for all his years at New Caney High School. Gary is remembered by his teammates as being encouraging, pushing the team to succeed, and a good friend. After high school, Gary’s personality and clear blue eyes made him a natural at sales. It didn’t matter whether it was food & drinks, tires, pharmaceuticals, hotel rooms, or cabinetry, Gary was going to ensure he was earning top commissions.

In 2015, Gary began dating the love of his life, Jessica. Together Gary and Jessica built a family of five and his pride and love for Addi, Patrick, and Olivia gave him something bigger than himself to live for. Gary had big dreams for his family and their future. Some of their fondest family memories include vacationing every spring to San Antonio and walking the trails in Kingwood together. When his kids were happy, Gary was happy. It brought him great joy to simply sit back and take their joy in as his own.

Gary frequently recounted how in awe he was of God’s grace and love towards him. Gary’s family have full assurance in the promises of God, that all who believe in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life and that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Gary is united in death with his father, Jim Renfrow, and his grandfather, James Hicks. He is survived by his beautiful wife Jessica, his three children Addisynn Jade (9), Patrick James (7), and Olivia Grace (6), his mother, Tammy Lovely and husband Steve, his sister, Krystle Dulin and family (Joshua, Jameson, & Jocelyn), his brother Ryan Renfrow, his stepbrother Derek Lovely and family (Rebecca & Thomas), his bonus sister Blair Hawley, his grandmother, Billie Hicks, and many extended family members including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. His loss will be felt for years to come by all who cared for and loved him.

The family invites all who loved Gary far and wide to join them for a Celebration of Life Service to be held Saturday, November 18th at 11:00am at Faith Family Baptist Church. FFBC is located at 23915 Highway 59 North Kingwood, Texas 77339.
