Grady Harold Bryan affectionately known as Dad, grandpa and "Shady" Grady by those close to him, was born on March 15, 1950, in Freeport Texas. He grew up in Houston, Texas with three siblings, playing in the fields around them. He spoke fondly of time spent in Taylor, TX surrounded by his family. The day after his high school graduation, Grady joined the US Navy, following in his father ‘s footsteps. He gave 6 years to the US Navy from 1970 to 1976. His tour of duty included time aboard the USS Ponce, USS Suffolk County and the USS Chehalis. At the time of his honorable discharge, Grady was an E4 Gunners Mate. When he returned to Houston, he worked for Eckerd Drugs before going to work as a chemical operator. He retired from Kuraray after over 24 years of service. Grady was a long-time resident of Deer Park, TX. He loved building model ships in his spare time. Grady was also a collector of all things tactical. He was a very kind soul, loved a great joke, and some good old country music and dancing. Above all, he was a devoted, loving father and grandfather.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, Grady passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be missed greatly by all his friends and family.
Grady was preceded in death by his father A W Bryan, his mother Lydia Ann Bryan and his brother Michael Nolan Bryan. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Bryan Gassner and husband, Berl, his brother Edward William "Willie" Bryan, his daughter Brandi Snow Bryan, son Clayton Alan Bryan, and wife Heather. He has also survived by his grandchildren Dominic Joseph Fusco, Addysen Ann Bryan, and Weston Howard Bryan, along with numerous nieces and nephews all who loved him dearly.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who lovingly took care of Grady in his final years, including Lisa Venable, Elizabeth Patterson, and the staff at the Sodalis Senior Living in Deer Park, Texas.
The family will receive family and friends at Deer Park Funeral Directors located at 336 E. San Augustine St. Deer Park, TX 77536 at 5 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024, with funeral services starting at 7 PM. The internment will follow at Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038 at 11:15 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024. A processional from Deer Park Funeral Directors will leave at 10:15 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024.
