Hedwig Henderson Obituary

Hedwig Betty Henderson, age 97, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her
children, on Sunday, October 8, 2023 in Shoreacres, Texas. She was a widowed war bride and
WWII POW. She was the most wonderful mother and loved her family dearly.
Hedwig Betty Henderson was born June 4, 1926 in Nuremberg, Germany to Anna and Lorenz
Müeller. She had three siblings who resided in Germany; her brothers, Willie Müeller, Hansi
Müelller and her sister Gretel Schultz. She grew up in Germany, married an American soldier
and moved to the United States in 1940. Hedwig is survived by her five children: William Allen
Henderson, Heide Marie Storm, Linda Darnell Tipton, Richard Karl Henderson and Rusty Lynn
Thomas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Bowie & Eric Henderson, Skye Odem,
Angel Steber, Mindy Danaher, Dusty Boss, Jimbo & Sam Storm, Ricky & Hanna Henderson,
Randi Thomas-Garcia and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Hedwig loved to be outdoors, crocheting, fishing, and most of all loved being with her family.
She touched many lives with her wartime stories, her childhood memories from Germany and
her selflessness and generosity to care for others. She will truly be missed, never forgotten; she
leaves us wonderful memories that will forever be cherished.
A celebration of life/memorial services will be held on October 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
