He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hill County Community College. After college, he began his lifelong career in the insurance industry. In 1977, he married his wife, Annette Davis, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage together. They moved to DeSoto, Texas to start their family. He worked with various insurance companies in the Dallas area until they decided to move to Seabrook, Texas and start his own agency. He partnered with Dave Homer and founded Anchor Marine Insurance. After several years of growing their agency, Ron decided to branch out on his own. He started J. R. Davis Insurance, working in commercial insurance for the past several years.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed many different activities like sailing, fishing, pickleball, golf, and even entering cookoff contests at the marina. He loved anything relating to the Texas Rangers, the Cowboys, the Longhorns and his hometown of Hillsboro, Texas. One of his favorite Christmas activities was decorating his sailboat to enter the Christmas Boat Lane Parade, winning 1st place several times. He enjoyed traveling to various places like Cancun and Niagara Falls. His other favorite activities included meeting with his gym buddies for their Coffee Club, planning cul-de-sac cornhole tournaments and movie nights for the neighborhood children. He especially looked forward to ushering at Clear Lake United Church and helping with other church needs. After church, he always helped prepare brunch for his family.
Ron was devoted to his family. He loved his three sons, Darren, Danny and David, as well as his three grandchildren, Dylan, Austin and Morgan. He was heavily involved in their sports activities, loved traveling to their tournaments and followed their games online when he couldn’t attend in person. Although Ron was shy at times, he loved participating in the TikTok dance challenge with Morgan. Family and friends thoroughly enjoyed watching the video.
