Janie Gutierrez Mendez

Janie Gutierrez Mendez was born in Houston, Texas on July 21, 1949 to Pablo and Margarita Gutierrez. Janie met the love of her life, Mr Jose Inez Mendez, at the age of 15. They were married on November 16, 1964 and began their lifelong journey to raise a family, together. Over the years, together, they raised 4 sons and 1 daughter who, in turn, would add 15 grandchildren to the family. Janie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law, madrina, tia and friend. Anyone who was fortunate enough to have met her knew she was famous for two things: Her homemade flour tortillas and beating you out of every penny you owned in Conquian and Loteria. Her infections laugh will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Janie entered in to the gates of Heaven on July 29, 2023 in Pasadena, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Mr Jose Inez Mendez, her children, Arturo Mendez, Teresa and Israel Lara, Alejandro Mendez, Roberto Mendez and Gerardo Reyes, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends who will miss her, dearly.
