Jose Inez Mendez

José Inez Mendez, age 81, of Houston Tx entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2026. "Joe", as he was better known, was born on January 21, 1945, in Villa de Arriaga, San Luis Potosi, MX. Raised in Houston, Texas for the majority of his life, in the neighborhood of Magnolia, Joe had many professions including a "panadéro", mechanic, delivery person and also sang upon request with a voice that was bigger than most. On November 21, 1964 he married the love of his life, Miss Janie Gutierrez, and they started their family. Throughout the years, he made a great multitude of friends because of his infectious charm, his beautiful smile and twinkling eyes and his heart that he wore on his sleeve. After retiring, Joe never stopped making his rounds to visit every single friend and family member, on a daily basis, just to make small talk and make sure everyone was ok. José Inez Mendez was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Mrs Janie Mendez, his parents Modesto & Sarah Mendez, his brother José Salvador Mendez and his sister Domitila Mendez Gallardo. He is survived by his four children, Arturo Mendez, Teresa Mendez Lara (h. Israel), Alejandro Mendez, Roberto Mendez and Gerardo Reyes. He also has 15 grandchildren, Ana, Gloria, Yvette, Bryan, Arturo, Isabel, Alexis, Selena, Stephanie, Robert, Lysette, Faith, Valerie, Matthias and Sinaida and various great grandchildren, his younger brother Miguel Mendez as well as many nephews, nieces and many, many friends who will miss him very dearly.
