Katelyn Kay Owen, born on June 2, 1997, in Texas City, Texas, was sent to her eternal home on November 17, 2025. Known to those who loved her as Katie, she brought light, laughter, and spirit into every place she entered and every life she touched.
Katie is survived by her mother and stepfather, Melanie and Chris; her sister and brother-in-law, Carly and Albert; her beloved nephews and niece—Dalton, Dylan, Daxton, and Cambree—who adored their Aunt KK; her grandmother, Shirley; her grandfather and his wife, Royce and Berta; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly. She is also survived by her beloved partner, Hilary, and her daughter, Presley, who Katie cherished with all her heart. Katie is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Owen, who she is surely shooting hoops with in heaven.
In her childhood and teenage years, Katie’s boundless energy and deep compassion shined brightly. Those who knew her early in life could already see the strength, humor, and generosity that would become her hallmark. Katie excelled in every sport she pursued—from soccer to softball to volleyball—yet it was basketball that ultimately captured her heart. Although she was offered three full-ride scholarships to play college basketball, she chose to stay close to her family—an enduring reflection of her true priorities. While she played competitive basketball with exceptional skill, nothing meant more to her than sharing the court with her beloved nephews.
Katie pursued a calling to help others, earning her EMT certificate and proudly serving for three years as a member of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. She was fiercely dedicated to her work and comforted countless patients and families in their most difficult moments. After a shoulder injury required her to leave the profession she loved, Katie faced the challenge with resilience, reinventing herself with the same determination that defined her life.
Her transition into sales was done in true Katie fashion—fearless, effortless, and completely unforgettable. While working with Ford, she was known for her bold personality and quick wit—famously winning over the finance director at Pluckers by eating a wing right off his plate. Her charisma and charm made her a natural actress, and she soon became their PR and social media star.
Most recently, Katie brought her talents to the oil and gas industry after being recruited by Mr. Kent Crawford. Katie had impressed Kent so thoroughly—after confidently charming him into buying a new company truck—that he knew she was someone special. Under his guidance, Katie quickly gained her footing, joking often that she had to drag Kent around all day because she “had a business to run.” Her ambition, humor, and presence left a mark everywhere she went.
Outside of work, Katie embraced life with enthusiasm, whether she was exploring new places, connecting with friends, or savoring everyday moments. She loved to travel and found joy in exploring new places, with recent adventures taking her to Cabo San Lucas and road trips along the Pacific Coast Highway in California. Although she enjoyed meeting new people and seeking out new experiences, her happiest moments were at home with her family—dominating every game night and having concerts and dance parties with “her kiddo,” Presley, who brought her endless happiness.
Katie never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. People were drawn to her charismatic personality, her easy laughter, and her beautiful, bright smile. Her ability to make anyone feel welcome, seen, and loved was her greatest gift.
Katie’s spirit, humor, and selfless heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were lucky enough to know her. Though her time on Earth was far too short, the joy she spread and the love she gave will continue to shine through the people she touched.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
