Katherine (Kathy) Vaughn Obituary

In Loving Memory of Our Daughter, Sister, Mother, and Grandmother

Katherine "Kathy" Vaughn, aged 64, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. Born on January 31, 1960, in Abilene, Texas, Kathy was raised by her loving parents, Niki and Robert Vaughn, alongside her two brothers, Robert J. and Ronald D. The family later relocated to Houston, where Kathy attended Westbury and graduated from Marian High School, excelling in dance, tennis, music, and theater.

Kathy went on to earn an Associate's degree in Fashion Merchandising from Bauder Fashion College and a Bachelor's degree in Education with a Minor in Music Performance from the University of Houston. She dedicated over a decade to teaching music and performing arts at Friendswood ISD until her career was interrupted by a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2003. In addition to this challenge, Kathy bravely battled and overcame cancer four times.

As a devoted mother, Kathy cherished her daughter, Nikole Miller, and her son-in-law, Chris Miller. She was a proud grandmother to her beloved granddaughter, Gracie "Sugar Pie" Miller. Kathy also shared her life with many cherished pets, including her recent companions, Brewster and Beaux Vaughn.

Kathy was a proud member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), creating original music that resonated deeply with her soul. Her personal journey was strengthened by her friendship with Bill W.

A woman of strong faith, Kathy attended various churches throughout her life, including the Abilene Bible Center, St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and Calvary Houston, where she actively participated in services.

Kathy is survived by her parents, her brothers, her daughter and son-in-law, her granddaughter, her beloved pets, and a wide circle of family and friends, including godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and warmth, profoundly touching all who knew her.

Kathy's spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and resilience.
