Kathy Brownback, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2026.
Kathy will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. Whether sharing stories, offering quiet support, or simply being present, she made people feel valued and loved.
A devoted fan of the Avengers movies, Kathy found joy in the epic battles between good and evil, often quoting favorite lines and debating which superhero was the greatest. Those films reflected her own belief in courage, loyalty, and standing up for others.
Kathy also shared a love for the Houston Astros, spending many hours watching games with family and friends. A great day for her was defined by an Astros walk-off win.
Equally important to Kathy was her love for animals. She was often seen providing food, water, and shelter for neighborhood feral cats.
Above all, Kathy cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Victor Brownback; her brother, Lewis Brownback; and her baby brother, Victor. She is survived by her mother, Katherine Brownback; her sister, Vickie, and husband, Mike Houghton; her brother, Jeff, and wife, Cheryl Brownback: and her close friend of 46 years, John Zuniga.
Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Michael Houghton, and husband, Michael Good: nieces, Katherine Houghton; Ashleigh, and husband, Jordan Wind; and Savannah Chasteen: and great-nieces, Haleigh, Aubree, Everleigh, and Lileigh.
Kathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family requests that memorial donations in honor of Kathy Brownback be made to a cat rescue organization of your choice.
