Larry Dale Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Dale Smith on November 27, 2023. He was born in Pasadena, Texas on April 19, 1943 to Lockett Cullen and Ruby Florence Smith. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Rita Stokes and parents, Lockett and Ruby Smith. 

He was raised in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Pasadena High School and continued his education at San Jacinto College and Sam Houston University. Larry had a long and fulfilling career spanning multiple industries, including criminal justice and insurance auditing. In his spare time, he had a passion for playing and coaching basketball for pro-amateur teams throughout Deer Park, Pasadena and League City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena.

He is survived by his son Steve Smith and his wife, Jill; his daughter Stefani Lovelace and her husband, Rex; his daughter Kelsie Smith and her partner, Cullin Blackburn; and his daughter Kirbey Velasquez and her husband, Juan; his four grandchildren, Alexis Lovelace, Keaton Smith, Jordyn Lovelace and Kylie Smith; and multiple grand-dogs.

A celebration of life for Larry will be held at the Deer Park Funeral Directors (336 E San Augustine St. Deer Park, TX) on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2 pm. He will be laid to rest next to his sister in a private ceremony at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
