Manuel Antonio Chanaba Obituary

Manuel Antonio Chanaba, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday Dec 28, 2024. Born on April 2, 1946, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Manuel and Piedad Chanaba, Manuel was a man of strength, resilience, and compassion who lived a life of service to others.

In 1980, Manuel made the brave decision to move his family to the United States, settling in Texas, where he built a life rooted in hard work and community. A small business owner in Pasadena for over a decade, he was a fixture in his neighborhood and a reliable presence for his customers. Later, he dedicated more than 15 years to patrolling local businesses and schools as a security guard in Houston, keeping his community safe with vigilance and care.

Manuel’s love of service extended beyond his work. Whether tending to his plants with a skilled green thumb or offering a helping hand to those in need, he found joy in nurturing others. His kindness, humor, and warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Manuel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nelly Chanaba. He is survived by his three children, Wendy Lejeune, Nyree Rangel, and Billy Chanaba; eight siblings; and countless friends and extended family who will miss him deeply.

Manuel’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and quiet strength. He fought to the very end, leaving this world as he lived: strong, determined, and surrounded by those who cherished him.
