Marilyn Michelle Hazel, of Deer Park, Texas, went to be with her
Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on February 3, 2026.
Marilyn was born on August 15, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She
was the youngest of four daughters born to Jim and Marilyn Cheney.
Orphaned in 1964, Marilyn later relocated to Texas, where she was
lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Russell and Pat Cheney, of Deer
Park, later relocating to Coldspring Texas where she graduated and
married Thomas Hazel.
Marilyn was a devoted mother to her two sons, Shane Hazel and Jim
Hazel, and she dedicated her life to caring for others both at home
and professionally. She served as a Respiratory Therapist for 33
years, compassionately helping those in need with skill, dedication,
and grace.
Marilyn was a woman of deep faith, passion, integrity, and strength.
She was known for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering care for
everyone who crossed her path. Her life reflected her love for Christ
and her desire to be a light to others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn McQuown, and her
father, James Riggs Cheney.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Shane Hazel and Jim Hazel and his
wife, Britney Brewer Hazel; her sisters, Cheryl Ellis Finn, Debra
Lakin, Lisa Hookings, and Grace Buttrum; as well as many extended
family members and friends who loved her dearly.
