Nellie Caldeira

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nellie Caldeira, (89) who passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Houston, TX.

Nellie was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering kindness, and steadfast loyalty. She dedicated her life to caring for others and making a difference in the lives of those around her. Throughout her career with the school district, she devoted herself to teaching and supporting children, helping them learn, grow, and believe in themselves. Her compassion, patience, and encouragement left a lasting impression on countless students, colleagues, and families.

Those who knew her will remember her affectionate heart, beautiful smile and spirit, and willingness to help others. She touched many lives through her kindness and generosity, and her influence will continue to be felt for years to come. Whether through a comforting word, a helping hand, or the example she set every day, she made the world a better place.

Nellie found joy in the simple beauty of nature and appreciated the peace found in the natural world around her. She had a special love for animals and a gentle heart toward all living creatures. Her kindness extended beyond people, reflecting the compassion and care that defined her life.

Above all, Nellie cherished her family and friends. She was a source of strength, love, and guidance, and her presence brought comfort and joy to those fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Elaine McGough (Steve), Katherine Moody (Alan), her cherished grandchildren, Ryan McGough (Elene), Grant McGough (Paige), Erin Finkeldei (Dean), Travis Moody; sister Livia E Lopez (Bert), brother Jaime Saldana (Thelma), and many other beloved family members and dear friends who will continue to honor her memory.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Caldeira Jr.; her parents, Heriberto and Maria Tita Saldaña; her sister, Rosalinda Salinas; and her brother, Heriberto Saldaña Jr.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers and staff at The Shores at Clear Lake whose compassion and kindness enriched Nellie's life.  Their care, patience, and friendship provided comfort and dignity throughout her journey.  We will always be grateful for the love and support they showed to our mom, Nellie and our family.

While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well lived and the many memories she leaves behind. Her legacy of love, dedication, compassion, and service will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, former students, and all whose lives she touched.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Saint Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, TX followed by a reception in the church hall.

In honor of Nellie's lifelong compassion for animals and in recognition of her courageous journey with Parkinson's disease, the family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a local animal shelter or to the Parkinson's Foundation at Parkinson.org.
