Ricardo Cruz, Sr

Loving husband, father, son, brother, Ricardo Cruz Sr.  71 of Gregory, Texas was called home to the Lord, Monday, July 21, 2025, while surrounded by loved ones.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 49 years, Palmira Cruz, and their daughter Wendy Cruz, daughter-in-law Emily Cruz, grandchildren Michael, Noah, Abigail and Nicholas, son-in-law Ralph Vargas, sisters - Jesusita Garcia, Elvira Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents Pablo and Gloria Cruz and his loving son Ricardo Cruz Jr.

Ricardo, a graduate of Pasadena High School, was quick-witted and very resourceful. He began a career in the chemical manufacturing industry and worked his way through a career as an insulator foreman and later a maintenance planner for over thirty years. In his later years, with the support of his wife, his sharp intellect and keen insight lead him to build a small but successful venture in real estate investments, which lead to an early retirement in Dayton, Texas.

Ricardo was known for his decisiveness and unwavering kindness; his compassion and generosity have always been the pillars of his character. He was a mentor to many throughout his life as a father, to colleagues, to many family members and especially to his grandchildren. His “don’t be scared” and “get in there” attitude made for some adventurous lessons learned.

Ricardo was a devoted father, and loving husband, whether it was camping, fishing, watching movies or making a simple cup of morning coffee. Ricardo’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of the people who knew him.

Vigil Service will be held 6:00 PM Monday, July 28, 2025, in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, Texas 77536.
