Robert "Bob" Ward Peterson Sr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Ward Peterson Sr., who left this world peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 14, 1936, Bob lived a life marked by service, faith, family, and an enduring love for the simple joys of life. Bob proudly served his country as a Corporal E4 in the United States Marine Corps, working as an aviation radio repair technician. After his service, he continued his career as a dedicated salesman for Verityper, where his integrity and work ethic were evident to all who knew him. A man of many passions, Bob found great joy on the golf course—serving as the Grand Marshall at the Battleground Golf Course and cherishing his time at Bright Grandview Golf Course in Iowa. He also loved fishing, hunting, reading Louis L’Amour westerns, watching John Wayne movies, and sharing a good meal with those he loved. His loyalty, kindness, and patriotism left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving sons: Chris Peterson (Linda), Robert Peterson Jr., and Don McLeland (Rhonda); grandchildren: Casey, Crystal (Roy), Ashley (Mick), Justin (Sheree), and Rachel (Derek); great-grandchildren: Joshua, Aiden, Landon, Royce, Lucas, Amelia, Avia, Kylee, Joseph, Emily, Miranda, Hunter, Makynzie, and his buddy, Koda. Bob is also survived by his cherished sisters, Jean Heston and Sally Wilkerson (Robert), along with many nieces, nephews, and dear lifelong friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Ann Peterson; his parents, Leona Laurene and Irvin Ward Peterson; and his sister, Nancy Handley. Bob’s faith in God was the cornerstone of his life. He believed in the strength of family, the power of community, and the importance of living each day with purpose and ambition. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Battleground Golf Course in Deer Park, Texas. All who knew and loved Bob are welcome to come, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Bob’s legacy by sharing a meal with someone you love, telling a story that makes someone smile, or simply spending a moment in nature—just as he would have loved.
