Roy Fondaw was truly one of a kind, a man whose passion, charisma and love for others left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Born on February 25, 1969 to Sandra and Dennis Fondaw. Roy was raised in Pasadena, Texas, where he spent most of his life. He had a gift for making people feel seen, heard and inspired. His smile was unforgettable, and his words had the power to motivate and move hearts. Roy brought joy, laughter, and light to wherever he went.
A lifelong athlete, Roy had a deep love for sports. Known for saying “I’m the goat and I don’t lose.” He lived with determination and passion. After his own time on the field, he transitioned into coaching. Using the game of football to mentor and uplift hundreds of young men. To Roy, it wasn’t just about the sport, it was about teaching life lessons, instilling confidence, and making sure every child knew their worth. He believed in them when others didn’t.
Roy also worked with NSR. Dedicating himself to helping students-athletes reach their goals of playing at the collegiate level. He went above and beyond. Always advocating for kids and their families with tireless effort and unmatched heart.
Family meant everything to Roy. On February 23, 2019 he married the love of his life, Stephani Fondaw, a moment he described as the happiest day of his life. He cherished her deeply, proudly calling her his queen. Roy found his greatest joy being a husband and father and protector for those he loved.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Stephani Fondaw, his daughter Madison Fondaw, his mother Sandra Fondaw, and his sister, Denise Redmond. He is also loving remembered by his sons, Jose Garza (wife Nelly), Xavier Barrera (wife Clarissa), and Rosendo Diaz. Nephews, Trent Redmond, and Drake Jacobs.
