Samantha “Sammie” Kaylee Long of Pasadena, Texas passed away suddenly on September 24, 2023, at the age of 26. Sammie was born October 14, 1996, to Shannon Trainor and Kevin Long. Sammie was a very bright and creative young woman. In her earlier years, she won several spelling-bees in school and taught herself how to play music. She would become a self-proclaimed “goth queen” and shared the rich culture and eclectic music therein. She was the extreme. She was passionate in her want for the perfect cat-eyeliner and in her disdain for adulting. She never knew a stranger. You were the most important person in her life once she claimed you as hers. Samantha struggled with her grief over the last several years due to the loss of her mother, Shannon (2020), and grandmother, Dianne Kay Trainor (2021). She loved intensely. Her friends, her chosen family, were always top priority, and she emphatically felt the joys and losses of those she loved most. Though she was hurting inside, she always built those around her up; to her, everyone was a Queen: the highest praise she could bestow. Samantha is survived by her partner, Alex Payne of 2 years—who helped her grow and see more parts of the world during their time together—as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Samantha was a unique and beautiful soul that will be missed by far more than she would ever realize.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October13, 2023 at La Porte Cemetery, South 8th Street, La Porte, Texas.
