Shirley Ann Kennemer Watson Obituary

Shirley Ann Kennemer Watson was born on June 2, 1936 in Winnsboro, Texas to Paul and Nadine Kennemer.  Shirley passed away on April 18, 2024 at the age of 87 in Deer Park, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty McCoy, niece Tammie Skinner Putman, nephew Greg Pruitt and nephew Clinton Pruitt.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Clyde Watson of 70 years, son Steve Watson and wife Maggie, son Kevin Watson and wife Carol and daughter Sherri Webb and husband Bryan, sister Paulette Skinner and husband Larry and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Shirley grew up in Avinger, Texas, married in 1953 and graduated from Avinger High School in 1954, where she was Valedictorian of her class and played on the basketball team.  She was active with her church and sang in the church choir.  After she graduated, they made their home in the Houston area and eventually resided in Deer Park and retired in 1996  from Deer Park ISD after many years.

Shirley loved to travel with her family and always seemed to meet someone she knew wherever they went, she did not meet a stranger.  She loved being with family and grandkids and making every birthday and holiday special.  She enjoyed camping, painting, all kinds of arts and crafts, reading and working crossword puzzles.

She enjoyed being in the Silver Set Sunday School class at Deer Park First Baptist Church.

Memorial Service will be held on May 4, 2024 at 11:00 am with a visitation with the family at 10:30 am at Deer Park First Baptist Church Worship Center, 438 E. 8th Street, Deer Park, TX  77536.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Attn. Donor Services, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago,60601, Donation in Memory of Shirley Ann Watson. A donation card will be sent to Clyde Watson, 2209 Westside Dr., Deer Park, TX 77536, please include this information when making your donation.  Or donations can be made to Deer Park First Baptist Church, 438 E 8th St. Deer Park, Tx 77536.  A donation card will be sent to Clyde Watson if the church receives a donation in Memory of Shirley Watson.
