SUDA MAE JUNE SMITH

Suda passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Deer Park, Texas, one month short of her 94th birthday.

Suda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Roger and Bessie Hamilton, her brother Wayne and husbands Mark Huckabay and Randy Smith.

Having been born in Granite City Illinois on June 24, 1931, she moved to Houston when her father took part in the start-up of the Armco Steel plant on the Houston ship channel. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and most of her working days were spent filling out 1040 forms and extensions as an income tax preparer enrolled to practice before the IRS.

Suda loved her family most of all. Her firstborn son, Ray (deceased), wife Vickie Huckabay remarried to John Sanders. She is survived by her daughter June Dahn (and husband Tommy), her sons Owen Huckabay (and wife Laurette) and Wilbur Huckabay (and wife Peggy) and her daughters Mona Jimenez (and husband Ruben) and Melonie Maynard (and husband Tim).

 Sudas is also survived by her 25 grandchildren, along with 41 great-grandchildren, Cean Huckabay; Heath and Emily Huckabay (children Simon and Elliot); Lee and Jennifer Dahn (children Luke, Emma, Bella and Ivy); Luke and Yu Jueng (daughter Mae); Jana and Matt Durant (children Addie, Levi, Ricky, TJ and Elin); Denny and Daniela Dahn (children Harper and Hallie); Nathaniel and Melissa Huckabay (children Nolan, Evey, Ruby, Hardy, Opal, Hamilton); Tamrynn and Josh Fett (children Cherith, Oliver, Hope, Zarien); Ethan Huckabay; Bethany Huckabay (deceased) (children Hayden, Holden, Tatum, Tylon, Braxton); Dylan Huckabay (children Connor and Dixie); Molly and Travis Hinkle; Owen Huckabay; Aubrey Huckabay; Ruben and Amelia Jimenez (children Levi, Shiloh, Brodie); Deric Jimenez; Jesse and Kayla Jimenez (children Cairo and Stella); Miranda; Joey Ware; Carlos and Shaelyn Gauna (son CJ); Maeghan & Kyle Hiarker; Makenzie Guana (children Evelyn and A’mire Collins); Colton & Katie Taylor (son Josiah); Sarena Taylor; Sara Taylor (deceased) (daughter Stellina Taylor-Reynes).

She also loved her church family at Providence Baptist Church.

Suda’s kind and nurturing spirit will live on in her family, and in all those who got to experience the loving light she radiated and There will be a memorial service to celebrate that light is at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Providence Baptist Church, 3801 Preston, in Pasadena. Visitation will be at 10 A.M.
