Vernon "Larry" Lawrence Aubin, Jr. Obituary

Vernon Lawrence Aubin Jr., affectionately known as "Larry", age 74, passed away on February 7, 2025, at his home in Pasadena, TX. Larry was a man of strength, faith, resilience, and compassion who lived a life in service to others. He was born on September 8, 1950, in Baton Rouge Louisiana to the late Vernon Lawrence Aubin Sr. and Norma Irene McHardy. Larry grew up in Pasadena Texas, graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1969, and attended The University of Houston on a baseball scholarship. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Deborah Koenig Aubin, and together they spent the next fifty years raising their family.

Larry retired from the Pasadena Police Department in 2005 after thirty-two years as a police officer. He worked in patrol, ID, community service, and in schools as a DARE officer. After retirement from the police department, he worked for the Pasadena School District.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and a ten-year member and president of Star Touring and Riding motorcycle group. He traveled all over the US and Canada on his Harley Davidson, with wife “Queen Bee” Debby, Marc and his late wife Sandy Finley, Mike and Pam Huff, and many other friends. Larry was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, camping, birdwatching, and woodworking. He loved his neighborhood HEB and enjoyed cooking for everyone. He was famous for his killer pork chops, spaghetti and meatballs, and gumbo. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family and frequently hosted them in his “bed and breakfast.”

Larry didn’t know a stranger and was generous to a fault.  His life touched a large extended family including Paul and Kelly Miller, Bill and Carol Wade, and Mike and Sherri Koenig.  He will be missed deeply by all friends, including beloved lifelong friends, Dwight and Gloria Burr, Jeanie and the late Bill Brady.

He was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church for fifty-five years. He led bible study and was an honorary member of the church quilting group.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Norma Aubin, maternal grandparents, Robert and Irene McHardy, and paternal grandparents, Aloysius and Lily Aubin.  He is survived by his wife, Deborah and two sons, Jeremy and his wife Stacey and Chad and his wife Laurie. Surviving siblings, sister Ann and late husband Jack Toney, and brothers Bob and wife Barbara Aubin, and Allen and his wife Bea Aubin. He was a proud papa to his four grandchildren, Cory, Auyna, Olivia and Zoe Aubin.
